It’s book tag and James at Independent Country tapped me on the shoulder so here goes:
# of books I own:
I hate answering this because it makes me sound like an elitist. I have shelf upon shelf; box upon box. Hundreds. I suffer terribly from an old book fetish. (It’s more olfactory than intellectual, trust me.)
Last book I bought:
I hate answering this because it makes me sound like less of an elitist: Along Came A Spider by James Patterson. $1.00/used/paperback. (I get a .50 credit if I return it.)
Ok, here’s the humiliating part. I bought it because I read that it was the basis for Bill Mueller’s favorite movie — Red Sox fans will understand that reference — so when I saw it on the shelf… Aww, crumbs, now my face is as red as Billy’s sox.
Last book I read:
Oh gosh, see above… I just bought it Saturday afternoon. But just before that I re-read The Blind Watchmaker; a long ago gift from a long lost friend.

Five Books that Mean A Lot to Me:
I’ll take this to mean my five favorite books, although I probably shouldn’t.
1) Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
2) Dreadnought by Raymond Massie
3) Anything by Dr. Seuss (I’m not kidding the man was a genius)
4) A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy O’Toole
5) Good As Gold by Joseph Heller
Ok, I’ll tag:
[Massachusetts Liberal] James, Kirk, Michael, Bri, and Kate
C’mon kids, the rest of you can list your favs in the comments.
